Welcome to the San José City Council District 2 website! I am honored to serve the community in which I grew up. San José’s District 2 includes a number of great neighborhoods as well as a cutting edge Technology Park. Some of the areas included in the District are Edenvale, Santa Teresa, Basking Ridge, Coyote Valley as well as parts of Blossom Valley. One of the leading centers for job creation in San José is the Edenvale Technology Park, located in the North Eastern section of the District. In addition to a number of world leaders in solar and nano technology, the Park includes the San José Biocenter, a world renowned bioscience incubator. Thank you for visiting the District 2 website and feel free to explore and learn more about the wonderful community we have here in south San José. Feel free to contact our office for any questions, concerns or suggestions on how we can improve in our service.

Thank you,

Our office is pleased to offer internships to students in order to further a student's educational and professional goals. An internship in a City Council office affords students with a unique opportunity to learn and experience how a local government functions.

Duties include attending council meetings and various community events, writing briefs, conducting research, drafting correspondence, and performing administrative tasks such as data entry, answering telephones, and assisting staff and constituents when needed.

There is no application deadline. Interns are accepted throughout the year. Please keep in mind, however, that the summer is a popular time for internships, and there is a limit to the number of interns who may work in the office due to space constraints. Internships are completed in-office only.

To apply for internship within the Office of Councilmember Ash Kalra, prospective candidates should send a complete application packet to our office to be fully considered for an internship. A complete application packet includes:
